December 9, 2015

As the year comes to an end, now is the perfect time to set goals for the upcoming year, and the home is the best place to start. To ensure that your next 12 months will be even more successful than the last, start personalizing and creating an ambiance that is sure to help you flourish. If you feel like your place is not tailored to your style, or isn’t a reflection of yourself, don’t fret! These Winter-inspired interior trends will provide you with a fresh, new look that is befitting for any design style.

Read on for Laurel & Wolf Designer, Yashlie Negron’s take on the trendiest looks from Winter 2015:

1. Crushed Velvet

Crushed velvet is a lustrous and dimensional fabric that not only adds texture to a space, but feels amazing! Since velvet can be found in almost any color imaginable, don’t be afraid to reupholster existing furnishings and bring them back to life. A successful way to allow the texture to become the focal point is by keeping the room a consistent color scheme.

2. Rose Gold

Much like the new iPhone, this rosy goodness of a color has made its way into interiors in distinct and fabulous ways. A great and easy way to make a big impact with this trendy finish is through light fixtures. Although lights are functional, they should also be thought of as decorative accents that compliment the overall vibe of the room.

3. Painterly Area Rugs

Rugs act as a way to ground the space and designate areas in a room. The latest trend is using a fluid, almost painterly rug that sets a dramatic, yet captivating tone in your interior. The Shibori Tie Dye Technique, like the one pictured above, creates an organic energy and instantly adds an element of playfulness to a space.

4. Faux Fur

A great way to stay cozy during the winter months is by adding a warm, textured accent piece to your room (faux fur is my personal favorite). There are numerous ways to incorporate this functional trend, such as adding simple accessories like accent pillows, throws, or an ottoman. These key elements pull a room together and create a polished, finished look.

5. Mongolian Fur

Another fantastic way to introduce subtle texture into your space is through the use of Mongolian fur. Its creamy white richness complements all design styles and makes any room look chic. Add drama to your space with a piece of furniture upholstered in Mongolian fur, or simply toss a throw over the back of a chair to achieve an easy, yet glamorous look.

Now that you’re an expert on the interior trends of Winter 2015, you can begin incorporating them into your space for a look that’s as fresh as the new year!
