Let’s face it — most influencers aren’t that relatable. According to their Instagram accounts, their lives consist of lavish vacations, a photographer on-call 24-hours a day and an endless supply of expensive outfits. Their lifestyles often seem unattainable and unrealistic. But that’s not the case with YouTube content creator, Sarah Belle. Though she’s incessantly on-trend and her makeup is always flawless, the twenty-four-year old speaks to her audience with wit and sincerity.

“As you can probably tell, I’m sitting in a very aggressive peacock chair,” she says in the intro for a video tour of her new Nashville apartment. It’s this kind of semi-sarcastic, self-deprecating humor that keeps her fans watching, whether it’s a vlog on tips and tricks for styling outfits or her honest musings on big life changes — which have been abundant for Sarah in the past few months.

“I was living with my best friend in Los Angeles, but it was so far from my family in Kentucky so I wanted to be somewhere closer. I was intrigued by Nashville’s vibe and felt like the city would mesh well with my style,” Sarah says.

After a few trips down to Music City to check out the culture and hunt for apartments, Sarah settled on a bright, contemporary space with hardwood floors and gorgeous floor to ceiling windows overlooking downtown Nashville. Though the space had all of her essentials — a nice kitchen, new amenities and perfect natural light for recording videos — Sarah was somewhat doubtful.

From a leather Moroccan pouf to an acrylic coffee table, Sarah’s apartment is filled with varying materials and textures that help create an eclectic yet contemporary vibe.

“The space is so wide and open, I was nervous about how I would organize it. Another thing I was worried about was that the architecture had such a modern, industrial vibe which isn’t my style at all, so I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it feel homey,” she says. That’s where Laurel & Wolf designer Juliette Calaf came in.

Keeping the color palette neutral, Juliette used camel, taupe, and rich, chocolatey browns in a variety of textures to create a layered, lived-in feel. It’s like something out of a Free People ad (where Sarah also happens to work in addition to being a YouTuber). Natural, woven materials in the form of wall hangings, rugs, and nubby throws float effortlessly around the living room. The occasional fur-covered piece speaks to Sarah’s more glamorous side. And there’s even a miniature teepee for her little dog Miller.

“I describe my style as Southwestern bohemian and the apartment couldn’t possibly match it more!” Sarah says. But there’s one piece in particular that has her over the moon — “I love my velvet couch. I’ve wanted one for so long but all I could find were colorful velvets. Juliette helped me find the perfect shade for my space.”

If you watch any of Sarah’s recent YouTube videos, you’ll get a sense of just how much she enjoys her new home. “I LOVE NASHVILLE,” she exclaims. “The energy, the people, the food. It’s such a positive and growing city, it’s just inspiring being here.”

That’s not to say she doesn’t miss living with her best friend in Los Angeles, but even her followers can tell that the city suits her. “You seem happier and more comfortable in your own skin,” a fan writes in the comments on one of her latest YouTube videos. Another says, “You’ve grown so much and I feel like Nashville is bringing out the best in you!”

What does Sarah have to say about it all? “Moving to Nashville has been the best decision I’ve ever made.”
