While we certainly love indulging in Halloween candy, decorating for the holiday can be more trick than treat. It’s not easy to keep your space tasteful while incorporating black, orange, ghosts, and skeletons into your decor.

This year, we’re bringing Halloween into the home with hauntingly beautiful tablescapes. From elegant and dramatic to quirky and creepy, these Halloween table arrangements will provide you with the inspiration you’ll need for all of your frightful festivities.

Release your inner Addam’s Family with a gothic, yet sophisticated table display. A simple color scheme, elegant tableware, and attention to texture is what makes this theme both dark and refined. Paired with traditional place settings, black candlesticks look fancy and dramatic rather than dismal and disturbing. Use ferns and delicate plants as your centerpiece and juxtapose your traditional place settings with eccentric serving trays. Tie the display together by using an ornate tablecloth as an accent. The goal is to create a lavish arrangement that looks as elegant as a fancy dinner party, but is infused with the dark spirit of Halloween.

Dark Desserts:

Find a theme for your food. Rather than simply laying out bowls of Halloween candy and scattering pumpkin and skull-shaped treats upon a table, give your party snacks a coherent theme. Consider labeling entrees as their spooky counterparts (i.e. spaghetti = guts). Or, arrange “dark” desserts like brownies and chocolate cookies on black serving trays.

Funky Feast:

Dare to get a little funky with your Halloween tablescape. Not every Halloween party needs to be decked out in wicked blacks and ghostly motifs. Think 1970s Scooby Doo and set the tone of your table with rich autumn shades, groovy patterns, and silly accessories. Silver goblets, vases, and candlesticks add a touch of elegance to the spread, but match the Halloween mood when covered in thick cobwebs and fake spiders. Serve hors d’oeuvres shaped like eyeballs, fingers, and worms that taste anything but eerie.

White Out:

Sometimes the creepiest color isn’t black — it’s white. Create an other-worldly table display using all-white decorations and tableware. Everything from your napkins to your utensils should be white. Adorn the table in cream-colored pumpkins, cobwebs, and a variety of ivory accessories in order to achieve a chilling vibe. A mobile of dead leaves floating above the table will add to the ghostly vibe of your table decor and make your space feel like a decrepit haunted house.

Festive & Frightful Fall:

If you want to avoid being too creepy-crawly, opt for a tasteful autumn-oriented tablescape. Infuse the colors of Halloween into this look by placing black textiles aside yellow, orange, and wheat-colored fall floral arrangements. Complete the presentation with candle holders that will make your tablescape both chic and mysterious.
