One Bedroom, Three Ways with the Home Depot

If you’re not an interior designer, it can be difficult to see a room’s full potential. Say you live in a Dutch Colonial style house — its barn-like architecture might tempt you to decorate with rustic pieces rather than modern. Or if you live in a contemporary space, you’re probably not going to go the traditional route. But with the right decor and some interior design know-how, a room can be completely transformed from what it looked like before. Don’t believe us? Read on to see how we took one bedroom and designed it in three entirely different ways with the help of our friends at Home Depot.

LOOK #1: Modern Farmhouse

One Bedroom, Three Ways with the Home Depot

Modern farmhouse style is one of the most coveted looks of the moment. And it’s clear why. Simple yet decorated, edgy yet sophisticated, this design trend lends itself to the clean lines of modern minimalism and the rustic naturalism of industrial style.

To create the look, we began with a neutral palette of white, grey, and blue, complementing the hues with the rustic texture of a shiplap-inspired peel and stick wallpaper. A pair of reclaimed wood side tables adds to the farmhouse effect while a rich, studded leather chair and bronzed lamps play on the industrial side of the look. Bring in warm, nubby layers and art inspired by the countryside to complete the room!

LOOK #2: Mid-Century Glam

Mid-century modern and glam are a match made in Pinterest heaven. For this bedroom design, we brought bright color to the center of the room, juxtaposing the grey, quilted bedframe against a vibrant burgundy duvet and cerulean rug.

We swapped the shiplap wallpaper for a statement-making, 1960s geometric pattern. Complementing the wallpaper with swingin’ 60s style is a Bertoia-inspired diamond chair and an Andy Warhol-inspired print. Peg-legged wooden furniture pieces bring to mind the timeless mid-century modern look we know and love. And for a little extra glamour, we added metallic accessories like a mirrored wall sculpture and a few gilded vases.

LOOK #3: Boho Chic

This bold, pink-splashed room brings the “chic” to “boho” in a big way. For this space, we chose a bright poppy-print wallpaper, which adds some vibrancy to the natural textures used throughout the room. Key to a boho look is lots of layers, so we made sure to incorporate eclectic patterns and Morrocan rugs, blankets, and pillows wherever possible.
